Historic monuments and museums. Waterside walks and world-famous nightlife. Cosy pubs and characterful bars.
Newcastle-upon-Tyne is the student city that really something for everyone.
And right at the very centre of it all, you’ll find our brand new building, Leazes Park.
From the energy of St James’ Park to the calming views of the Quayside, our building puts you amongst all the action.
There are so many things for students to do near Leazes Park, and we’ve listed a few of our favourites below.
Leazes Park
We couldn’t kick off this list without giving our namesake a shoutout. Yep, we love this green space so much, we decided to name our new building after it.
Leazes Park is the ideal place to destress, unwind, and reconnect with nature. After a intense day at university or a week of endless deadlines, this green space is a real haven.
Need a new running route, a place for a picnic, or simply somewhere to sit and enjoy a moment to yourself? It’s all here, and only a five minute stroll away from your front door.
Round up your new friends, grab a coffee, and pitch up near the pond to enjoy some duck-watching.

Grainger Market
Comic collectors. Coffee enthusiasts. Croissant connoisseurs. This one’s for you.
Grainger Market is the city centre’s endearing market hall. This traditional Grade I listed building sits in the very heart of the city and has become the epicentre of Newcastle’s food and hospitality scene. Home to over 80 vendors, Grainger Market now stands out as a real foodie spot.
It’s even been named Britain’s favourite market. Spend only a few minutes in here, and it’s easy to see why.
Have a free Saturday morning? Round up some friends, and explore endless corners of quirky stores. And when all the window shopping has worked up an appetite, you’ll have so much great food to pick between.
Pizza slices, fresh bagels, handmade dumplings, noodle bowls, you name it. This market has it.
Don’t leave without checking out the impossible-to-pass pastries from The French Oven. They taste even better than they look (believe it or not).

There’s nothing like a walk along the water to calm your nervous system.
Newcastle’s Quayside area is a popular spot all year round. Whether you’re heading down for a day-time walk or a sunset view, you’re sure to enjoy the view of the city’s impressive bridges and modern architecture.
Why not borrow a bike and explore the Quayside’s water-lined pavements? Here at Vita Student, our bikes are free-to-use all year round.

Chinatown
Craving bubble tea or a comforting bowl of noodles? Stowell Street, otherwise known as ‘Chinatown’, is the place to go for all things Asian-inspired.
King Neptune is the longest-running Chinese restaurants, serving up traditional Cantonese dishes including lobster, crab, Peking-style ribs, and a lot more. If you’re looking for something a little more lively, Amaysia Restaurant is the place for pool tournaments and post-meal karaoke.
Surprisingly enough, you’ll also find the city’s oldest pub, Rosie’s Bar, in the heart of Chinatown. Here, you’ll find live music events, great beer, and an always-on atmosphere. The perfect spot for a drink after a delicious meal.
Stowell Street is more than worth a visit. In fact, you could probably spend an entire night here without needing to leave.
Just look out for the beautiful Chinese archway. It’s pretty hard to miss.

Grey Street and Grey’s Monument
Chances are, you’ve probably already admired the architecture on this famous street. It’s probably the most Instagram-worthy spot in the entire city.
Named one of the prettiest streets in the country, Grey Street is an absolute must-see for any Newcastle.
This curving cobbled road blends Georgian charm and modern style. A historical spot that now plays home to some of Newcastle’s most popular restaurants, bars and cafes, Grey Street is a key feature of the city’s iconicity.
Here, you’ll find the Theatre Royal and Central Arcade, buildings that date back as early as the 19th century.

Newcastle University and Northumbria University
If you’re moving to Newcastle for university, you’re most likely coming to study at Newcastle University or Northumbria University.
Leazes Park puts you only a short stroll away from both. That means no running late to lectures or waiting for a bus. Get to your building on foot and on-time, with no stress and zero commuting costs. Yep, you really are just around the corner from everything you need at Vita Student.
Our building is designed to provide you with that crucial work-life balance. From bookable study rooms to vibrant social areas, we give you the perfect balance of focus and fun, whenever you need it.
Because here, you’re close enough to feel connected to everything happening on campus, while still being far enough away to switch off after study hours.
It’s the best of both worlds, if we do say so ourselves.
