Museums
Southampton has a great mix of museums and galleries, so there’s plenty to keep you busy for hours. Whether you’re interested in maritime history, modern British art or vintage aircraft, there’s something to explore.
Some of our top picks include the SeaCity Museum, Southampton City Art Gallery, Solent Sky Museum and Tudor House & Gardens.
Visit the SeaCity Museum
One of our favourites is the SeaCity Museum, where you can see an interactive model of the Titanic, which departed from the very port you can still visit in the city today.
Discover Southampton’s rich maritime history through fascinating exhibits and engaging displays. Learn about the city’s deep connection to the Titanic, from its construction to its ill-fated maiden voyage.
The museum also offers a moving insight into the lives of passengers and crew, making it a must-visit for history lovers and curious visitors alike.
Explore Southampton City Art Gallery
If maritime history isn’t your thing, head to the Southampton City Art Gallery for a look at modern British art, completely free of charge.
The gallery features a diverse collection, ranging from contemporary works to classic masterpieces. Visitors can also take part in workshops and events, making it an engaging and educational day out.
Explore the Solent Sky Museum

The WestQuay shopping centre is home to more than 100 high street stores spread across three floors. Surrounded by restaurants, bars and seasonal pop-ups throughout the year, there is always something going on.
From Christmas markets and festive ice rinks to Oktoberfest-style tents and outdoor events, you’ll be spoilt for choice. We also love heading to Franco Manca for pizza, and would definitely recommend a visit.

The Port and Ocean Village
The marina is definitely a must-see in Southampton. But there’s more to Ocean Village than the boats.
With shops, a cinema, and bars and restaurants right on the water’s edge, it has the feel of a holiday stop-off as the cruise ships roll in. You can also hop on a boat tour yourself and see the city from the water — and in a place known for its port, it would be rude not to.
In need of a well-deserved spa day? Harbour Hotel Southampton offers five-star luxury and sits right on the edge of Ocean Village, so the views are just as impressive as the treatment list.
