FAQs
Liverpool is full of incredible experiences, whether you’re a student or not. On the Docks are some of the UK’s best art galleries like Tate Liverpool and Open Eye Gallery. It showcases some of our generation’s best artists and better yet, they’re free to enter. Liverpool is also famous for being the birthplace of The Beatles, and only in this city can you learn all about the history of the band. Go to Beatles History Museum on Albert Dock and immerse yourself in their story.
If there’s one thing students can’t get enough of in Liverpool, it’s the nightlife. This city comes alive at night, and there’s a venue to suit whatever occasion. The first stop on your list should be Camp and Furnace, a versatile warehouse with club nights, pop-up bars and food venues. Next up is Invisible Wind Factory – an old factory that was converted to host some of Liverpool’s best parties. Fancy a day-time dance? Head to Modo and listen to some incredible DJs on its rooftop terrace.
While Liverpool guarantees the buzz of city-centre living, it’s equally easy to find some respite at the beach. Travel just 40 minutes to Formby Beach, a vast stretch of coastline that is beautiful to see in all seasons. Or, even closer is Crosby Beach, home to one of the UK’s most unique landmarks. Scattered over a mile of the beach stand 100 cast iron statues created by artist Antony Gormley. Despite being installed here in the 90s, they still look out towards sea, admiring the view.
Liverpool is famous for birthing some of the world’s best bands – so as a result is has plenty of amazing live music venues. The infamous Cavern Club showcases some of the best upcoming artists in an intimate, cool setting. They’re open from day to night, so you can start enjoying the music as early as 11am. To see some of the biggest acts play, go to Mountford Hall or the O2 Academy. For an understated night to discover new music, there’s no better place than Phase One on Seel Street.
Liverpool is considered one of the most affordable cities for students to live in the UK. While your monthly spend will depend on your lifestyle, Liverpool generally is cheaper for travel and going out than other big UK cities.
Liverpool gives you the best of both worlds – exciting city living with plenty of green space. If you’re craving some distance, make your way Everton Park, walk up the hill and get breath-taking views of the city from afar. In the centre of the city lies a quaint conservation area – St John’s Gardens. Come here to experience some peace among the bustle and admire the beautifully lawn gardens.
Liverpool has some outstanding food and drink venues, with an abundance of choice. For a casual bite, go to Duke Street Market, an industrial warehouse that hosts a varied line-up of food and drinks vendors. However, if you’re looking to treat yourself, enjoy dinner and drinks with a view at Panoramic 34 – a restaurant on the 34th floor of a building overlooking the city.
