the benefits of trying a vegan diet

Greener planet: Modern animal agriculture significantly impacts the environment, e.g. deforestation, water pollution and carbon emissions. Adopting a plant-based diet can reduce this demand, and therefore reduce the pressure on the environment from mass-farmed animals. When replaced with local, sustainably grown/farmed alternatives, we can significantly reduce our carbon footprint and contribute to a more sustainable world.

Lower food bills: Many plant-based products such as rice, beans, lentils, pasta, and grains, are often less expensive than animal products. These foods are rich in carbohydrates, protein, and essential nutrients, providing a cost-effective source of nutrition.

Health and wellbeing: The health benefits of plant-based diets are well researched. Diets rich in plant foods can help support cholesterol levels and blood sugar balance, reducing heart disease. A diet rich in a variety of plant foods is also a great way to support your microbiome, whilst contributing to overall health and wellbeing.

Kindness to animals: Many people are motivated to join Veganuary by a desire to minimise the suffering of animals, especially those raised within modern, mass farming processes. Choosing not to eat these types of animal products is a powerful way to take action and be compassionately responsible, recognising that consumer choices can have a major impact and influence on the food system, which could lead to a kinder, more equitable system for animals and humans!

But there’s even more to it than this.

Getting in the Know: You start learning more about what you eat and how it connects to your health, the planet, and ethics. It might even spark some lasting changes in your day-to-day diet.

Food Adventures: Veganuary is like a ticket to a whole new world of cuisine, It nudges you to try new things and break away from the same old food routine.
